Climbing Efficiently is workshop tailored for climbers seeking to elevate their skills. Led by the expert guidance of Ian Dunn and Sandra Berlin, this workshop aims to refine your movement and climbing techniques, enabling you to climb smarter and consequently improve your performance. Climb harder without pulling harder!
About Ian
Ian is a Mountain Training Performance Coach and brings over 49 years of climbing experience across various disciplines. He has over 100 first ascents in the UK and had climbing ventures in Europe, Asia, and the USA. A seasoned competitor, he has climbed Revelations 8b at Ravens Tor, marking it as his toughest route yet.
His coaching journey includes managing the GB Junior Lead Climbing Team and coaching for the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and Mountain Training UK. Ian established Climb Rochdale in 2003, coaching numerous children to success, including Randy Roby’s victory at the Arco Rock Junior. Continuing his coaching endeavours independently, Ian founded Coaching Climbing in 2012, becoming the first recipient of Mountain Training UK’s Development Coach Award the following year. Ian’s dedication extends to BMC initiatives, such as National Academies and the FUNdamentals of Climbing Workshops, aimed at nurturing talented climbers and coaches.
Extremely passionate about coaching, Ian loves to see climbers both young and old achieving their full potential.
About Sandra
Sandra, a certified Development Coach and Senior Yoga Teacher, is a true master of movement. Her impressive 12-year in the climbing industry working as a coach, manager, and route setter, gives her a comprehensive understanding of climbers of all levels and backgrounds. She is also the founder of Climb & Yoga, offering climbing and yoga coaching, workshops, and retreats across England and abroad.
Her coaching approach is characterised by its friendly and inquisitive nature, prompting clients to delve into the mechanics of their movements and connect with their bodies on a deeper level.
With a history of overcoming her own injuries, Sandra places a strong emphasis on conditioning. She’s a great advocate of a well-balanced, strong, and mobile body as the foundation for success and longevity in climbing. As a yoga teacher, Sandra seamlessly incorporates mindfulness techniques into her coaching, addressing the crucial psychological aspects of climbing.
